CBSE-PMT

This is one of the main Pre-medical exams of India. It is conducted by the CBSE, New Delhi. There are 1600 seats. Usually, candidates up to 2800 rank get selected. CBSE has 15% reservation in all the medical colleges across India which are funded by the Government of India, except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir (AP and J&K candidates are not allowed to attempt the exam). The forms are available in November and the exam is conducted by the last week of April. The exam consists of one objective type paper of 2 and a half hours duration consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). There are 200 Multiple Choice Questions in all - 50 on Physics, 50 on Chemistry and 100 on Biology. Negative marking - 1 mark deducted for every incorrect answer.

Exam Pattern: Prelims 
Examination: 6th April-2008
The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. 
The duration of paper would be 3 hours

Exam Pattern: Mains 
Examination: 11th May-2008

(Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination). 

The Final Examination would consist of two papers each of 2 hours duration. Paper-I would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper-2 would contain questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology). 
The Final Examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions to be answered in the Test Booklet supplied.

Varanasi
Course: MBBS 
Eligibility: 10 + 2 or equivalent with aggregate 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. 
Seats: 50 (40 for general category). 

CHRISTAIN MEDICAL COLLEGE (CMC),
Vellore
Course: MBBS 
Eligibility: 10 + 2 of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Home Science, and 50% marks each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. 
Seats: 60 (45 for candidates sponsored by CMC, 1 for non-sponsored student by Central Government, and 14 for All India Examination inclusive of 3 seats of SC/ST).
